The Golden Ticket
Growing up in a city of dreams
Bound for greatness
But success wasn’t easy as it seems
mama working doubles I couldn’t quit
Had a dollar and a dream to proceed
Long and Sleepless nights
Dreaming one day it will be my time
Prime time under the lights
Key plays from big time players like me
I’m one of one
Mama raised me on her own no dad in sight
gave me a reason to keep going
Scratching and pleading to that end goal
Heavy bangs of weights rolling
Sweat dripping from my heart, had to keep flowing
I had to do this for my family
Moving them out the hood was my biggest dream
Sunny skies, palm trees and better days
No more worries no more maze
The rise to the top is upon me in a lot of ways
Exceeded in a Division one school
The smile on my mama face was impeccable
Became the youngest golden ticket to do it
All glory to God
In the city of dreams, I was bound for greatness.
